We are relentlessly seeking a School Nurse who believes strongly in our mission and vision and whose actions demonstrate high expectations for scholars, families, and colleagues. The School Nurse is entrusted with serving as a medical resource and health advocate for students and staff. Additionally, the School Nurse is the primary point person responsible for planning, implementing, coordinating, and evaluating school health services. 

 

TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES




MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Current non-restricted TN Licensure as a Registered Nurse is required. BSN or LPN is preferred. 2 years or more in nursing; Current CPR, First Aid, and AED certification; Associate or Nursing Diploma with Pediatric experience preferred, BSN a plus. Experience in a pediatric setting is preferred. Also, must be Covid-19 vaccinated. 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

PHYSICAL & ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS

Physical Demands: Prolonged standing, occasional walking, minimal lifting in a medical office setting.

Audible Demand: Use of a stethoscope to examine heart, lung, and bowel function. Operation of the phone system, verbal communication with supervisors, co-workers, patients, etc.

Visual Demands: Computer use, operation of the phone system, preparation of reports, reading handwriting, seeing short distances, completing clinical assessments, and identifying abnormal markings.

Color Perception: Use of medical equipment and for clinical assessment of medical conditions.

Environmental Conditions: Work is conducted in a typical indoor work environment with good lighting, noise, and temperature control.

Hazard: Minimal risk of injury or work-related illness due to needle sticks and/or exposure to bodily fluids, infectious disease.
